Fox Farm

What we do

A volunteer-run gardening program, Fox Farm's weekly lessons focus on getting students interested and active in food production. Students are encouraged to harvest and taste the ‘fruit’ of their labors; from growing mushrooms and sprouts to making salsa and salads.

Fox Farm Fun

Students take home zucchini and summer squash from Summer Garden Club at Free Orchards' Back to School Night in September.

Mr. Carter's 4th grade class works with Principal Gabby to harvest garlic they planted as 3rd graders.

Students clear our herb garden for the winter and taste-test along the way.

Students in Mrs. Manos' 3rd grade enjoy Salsa Week at Fox Farm. Over 60 pounds of produce were donated from Liberty High School's Falcon Farm to make this year's salsa.

Students harvest native Columbine seeds to use in our Fox Farm Seed Library.

Curriculum

Themes guide the lessons; Native American Heritage Month or Earth Month, focus is placed on seasonal and native garden knowledge. Garden planters focus on varying learning styles, from a hands-on planter to encourage digging, to a sensory garden to help students who are in need of alternative approaches to gardens.

October Focus

This month we are cleaning up the garden for winter. Students have been pulling weeds down to their roots, clearing out planters, and planting fall seeds - garlic and winter wheat - to enjoy when we come back to the garden in Spring.

We look forward to continuing our garden classes indoors starting in November!

Fall Carnival is Friday, November 7th, 6-8pm! We can't wait to share Fox Farm with our school's yearly family event.

Our Fall Carnival is a free event to attend, and families can purchase tickets to booths; Face Painting, concessions, Plinko and more!

Don't forget to stop by Fox Farm too, we'll have a Pumpkin Patch and Log Roll Races!
